Men's Soccer Ranked #4 in NSCAA North Region Poll

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS – The University of Dubuque Men’s Soccer team has moved up to #4 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) North Region Poll. The Men’s Soccer program also reached a milestone this week with their 100th win as they beat Grinnell 4-0 on September 26th. The Spartans are currently tied atop the Iowa Conference at 2-0 with an overall record of 8-2.

A major reason for the Spartans success this season has been the play of senior Nick McDonald (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove). McDonald is currently second in Division III for points (31) and fourth in goals (13) scored. McDonald and Brandon Wiley (Mannheim, Germany/Mannheim) are tied for 39th in assists (5). First year starter Jake O’Rourke (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gormon) has been outstanding in goal with the 49th best goals against average (.711) and 55thbest save percentage (.837) in DIII.

As a team, the Spartans are also near the top of Division III in numerous categories including having the 12th ranked offense at 3.3 goals per game, and 57th best defense at 0.8 goals allowed per game. Exceptional passing and teamwork has put UD near the top of the nation in assists with 26 assist, good for 12th place.
