Sep 26, 2012 | UD Sports Info

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque will be hosting a Track and Field Coaches Academy on Sunday, November 11, 2012. Top college and high school coaches from around the tri-states will be featured speakers throughout the day.

“We are very excited for the new University of Dubuque Coaches Academy this fall," added UD Head Track and Field Coach Chad Gunnelson. "This clinic is built for high school and college coaches to collaborate and learn in a hands-on setting so we can all continue to improve track & field in the Tri-State area. Clinics are an incredible resource to learn from great coaches and share our stories and trade ‘secrets’. We are very fortunate to have some of the best coaches not just from the Tri-states but in the whole country speaking at our clinic  this fall.”

The clinic will showcase the "LEARN BY DEMO" segments. Each event group will have a Learn By Demo segment where they can work hands on with the clinic speakers and student-athletes to help them implement training drills and concepts with their own teams.

Coach Mark Guthrie will be the 2012 featured speaker. Guthrie, now in his sixth season as the Sprints Coach at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is regarded as one of the best track & field coaches in the country. He was inducted into the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2008. Prior to coaching the UW Badgers, Guthrie led NCAA Division III University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to 22 NCAA Division III National Championships. He is unleashing a NEW 400M training model which coaches will be sure to not miss.
