Spartans Suffer Home Loss to Luther

DUBUQUE, IOWA – The University of Dubuque Women’s Tennis team lost 8-1 to Luther College on Wednesday afternoon at the Frank Farber Tennis Courts. UD is now 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the Iowa Conference.
Earning the Spartans lone victory was Janine Wegner (Pittsville, Wis./Pittsville) at #6 singles (6-2, 6-2). The win for Wegner was the first for UD against the Norse since the programs renewed their series in 2007. The duo of Wegner and Aoi Karino (Yokota, Japan/Yokota) lost a hard fought match at #3 doubles, 9-8 (12-10).
UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to Storm Lake, Iowa for two matches on Saturday, September 15th. The first match of the day will be at 8:30 am against Buena Vista University (0-3). UD will then finish the day with a non-conference match against Northwestern College (0-0).
