Spartans Lose Overtime Thriller to #21 UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, WISCONSIN – The University of Dubuque Men’s Soccer team and #21 UW-Whitewater played a nearly even game, so much so that 90 minutes was not enough to decide the outcome. In the 97th minute, UW-W was able to finally break through on way to a 1-0 loss for the Spartans. UD is now 2-2 on the season.

Spartans goalkeeper Jake O’Rourke (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gormon) finished the game with two saves in 97 minutes of action.

Leading the Spartans on offense was the duo of Nick McDonald (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) and Brandon Wiley (Mannheim, Germany/Mannheim) with two shots on goal each. Wiley accounted for five of the teams ten total shots.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will host former Iowa Conference member Cornell College (0-4) on Wednesday, September 12th at Oyen Field at 7:00 pm.
