Spartans Lose Home Opener

DUBUQUE, IOWA – The University of Dubuque Women’s Tennis team lost a tight match with UW-Stout at home on Saturday afternoon by the score of 5-4.
Nichole Schmaltz (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) finished the day with wins at #1 Singles (7-6, 1-6, 10-8) and teamed with Ashley Schlueter (Hiawatha, Iowa/Kennedy) to win at #1 Doubles (9-8). Also earning wins in singles play were Alexandra Dixon (Camanche, Iowa/Camanche) and Aoi Karino (Yokota, Japan/Yokota).
UP NEXT: The Spartans return to action on Friday, September 7 when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to play Grandview College at 4:00 pm.
GAME NOTES: Singles #1 through #4 all went three sets with each team winning two… Doubles #1 and #3 each finished at 9-8.
