Spartans Beat Macalester on Opening Weekend

BELOIT, Wis. - The women's volleyball team captured an opening weekend victory over Macalester on Friday by a 3-2 score. The Spartans dropped the first two sets 21-25, 16-25, before rallying back to take three straight by scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 15-7.
Klaudia Basierak led UD with 23 kills in 57 attacks. She also led with seven service aces in 25 attempts. Maggie Schmidt captured 41 set assists. Nicole Toro garnered a team high 29 defensive digs in the win. UD finished the match with 46 kills and 15 service aces.
UD fell to 1-2 overall after losing to Hamline 0-3. Spartans lost 27-29, 12-25, 22-25. Baseriak led with 14 kills. Amy Tranel and Susie Danielewski each finished with seven kills.
