Women's Basketball Start Busy Week of Action

WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team kicked off a tough schedule with four games in the next seven days. Saturday, the Spartans faced a tough #19-ranked Wartburg squad who won the A-R-C contest 104-64. 

Jaden Kelley led the Spartans in scoring with 20 points after sinking 6-8 shots from the field, 2-2 from the three point area, and sinking 6-8 free throw attempts. Josie Thomas would be the only other double digit scorer as she finished with 10 points. Miah Smith led the Spartans in rebounding with eight.

UD made 23-57 shot attempts (40.4%), sank 6-16 three point attempts (37.5%), and were 12-17 at the charity stripe (70.6%).

No rest for the ladies as they travel to Lincoln, Neb. on Monday, Jan. 21 for another A-R-C contest, with tip off against the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves scheduled for 2 p.m. The Spartans return home to host the Luther College Norse on Wednesday, Jan. 23 with tip off at 6 p.m. UD is back on the road on Saturday, Jan. 26 when they travel to Indianola to face the Simpson College Storm at 2 p.m.
