Men's Basketball Downed by Luther's Record Setting Night

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team lost at home on Wednesday night to the Luther Norse 87-97. It was the hot shooting Luther Norse (7-10 overall, 1-8 in A-R-C) who set a record by sinking 20, three point shots (20-34, 58.8%). Luther scored 75 of their 97 points from the three point area and the free throw line. It was their first win in league play since a 69-64 victory at Wartburg on Feb. 8, 2017.

Mitch Burger came off the bench to lead the offensive output with 18 points along with three assists and a pair of steals. Avery Butler was 6-11 from the field and finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Marcus McDaniel and Peter Ragen would both finish with 12 points. UD made 34-68 attempts from the field (50.0%), 13-35 from the three point area (37.1%), and 6-7 at the free throw line. UD out rebounded the Norse 39-30. 

The Spartans (11-8 overall, 4-6 in A-R-C) travel to Simpson on Sat., Jan. 16 at 4 p.m. and will continue the road series in Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Loras at 8 p.m. The Spartans return home on Feb. 2 when they host the Central Dutch at 4 p.m.
