Key City Clash Game Notes
Oct 31, 2014
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The cross-town rivalry is back for another Key City Clash with both teams on the ropes after 1-3 starts in Iowa Conference play. Both University of Dubuque and Loras’ offenses have been hit-or-miss, but are capable of filling up the scoreboard after averaging 34.7 and 31.7 in their three highest scoring games, respectively. UD boasts a balanced attack between QB Zach Fry (1600 yards, 14 TDs) and freshman RB Alec Arvanitakis (118 car, 612 yards) while Loras relies on the arm of Loras’ QB Robert Kelly (1015 yards, 7 TDs).
Both defenses combined boast half of the top-10 IIAC tacklers yet still field a vulnerable pass defense (Loras) and rush defense (UD). Both will be tested against two of the best WRs in the IIAC in UD senior Tyler Rutenbeck (55.6% of team offensive TDs) and Loras senior Nate Even (43.1% of team offensive yardage).
The Spartans are proud owners of a three-game winning streak against Loras by the combined score of 142-16. Loras will be up to the challenge as they look to capitalize on their momentum from last week’s win over Simpson. UD will do just the opposite in their quest to bounce back from two straight losses to no. 6 Wartburg and Buena Vista.
