Charles Barland Faculty Organ Recital
Charles Barland, DMA, university organist and professor of music at the University of Dubuque, will perform an organ recital on the John and Alice Butler Pipe Organ. The recital will demonstrate the many varieties of sound and color that are possible on the magnificent John and Alice Butler Pipe Organ. Recital repertoire will include works by composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude, Alfred V. Fedak, David German, David Hurd, Jean Langlais, and Josef Rheinberger.
Dedicated May 15, 2021, the John and Alice Butler Pipe Organ was gifted by John (DHL'17) and Alice (DHL'17) Butler to expand students' musical horizons and enhance campus events. It was designed for teaching, solo recitals, and performances with other musical ensembles. Dobson Pipe Organ Builders of Lake City, Iowa, built and installed the pipe organ - the 97th new organ built by the firm.
The organ recital is free and open to the public. No ticket is required.
