Online, May-Term & Summer
UD offers online courses during the fall, spring and summer terms. Online courses are indicated by a section number of 60-65. All graduate and undergraduate UD online courses are offered over an eight week span.
Online courses are only recommended for students who have strong study skills, self-discipline and can work independently.
The University of Dubuque will be transitioning to a May Term in 2021. Stay tuned for more information.
UD offers two summer sessions between the spring and fall semesters. In person classes are often four weeks long and online courses are eight weeks in duration.
In order to be eligible for financial aid, students need to register for a minimum of six credits during the summer. Summer tuition and policies can be found on the Registrar’s Summer School webpage. UD summer school registration generally opens in late mid-November.
Students can choose to take summer courses at other institutions, but should consult with their academic advisor and must complete the Request to take a course at another college form first. The form provides confirmation that a course taken at another institution will transfer back to UD as anticipated and is required for course credit taken elsewhere to be accepted at UD.
Center for Advising and Vocation: Lower Level Peters Commons
Academic Year Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. & Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Center offers both walk in hours and scheduled appointments.
For general advising questions, walk in hours are available Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm during the week before a term begins through the full-term add/drop period. Walk in hours will also be available during the week before and of the last day to withdraw from a full-term class.
When the walk in hours conclude, students will need to schedule a meeting to be seen by an advisor.
Students can schedule an appointment by logging in to: http://dbq.mywconline.com. If you have a UD email but have never used the program, you will first need to register for an account. You can then view all advisors' availability by selecting the "Advising" schedule from the drop-down menu. This is the same program used by the ASC for scheduling tutor appointments.
