Mar 9, 2019
WOODBURY, Minn – The University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse contest on Saturday was moved indoors to the HealthEast Sports Center in Woodbury, Minnesota against the University of Northwestern, where the Spartans fell to the Eagles, 21-1.
Northwestern scored the first 11 goals of the first half before Brooke Jones scored on a man advantage opportunity to get the Spartans on the board with 6:34 remaining in the first half. The Spartans were only able to get five more shots off in the remainder of the game, none of them finding the back of the net, while the UD defense could not find a way to slow down the Northwestern attack.
Kori King led the Spartans in multiple categories against the Eagles. King led the way with five shots and won two draw controls. UD goalie Kaley Weir forced Northwestern into seven turnovers, while also coming up with 14 saves in the process.
The Spartans will remain in the Twin Cities for an exhibition game against Augsburg, before returning home to play Clarke on March 18th.
