Track and Field Face Stiff Competition at UW-Platteville Invite

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Spartans track and field teams battled some of the country's best at the UW-Platteville Invite on Saturday.
Allison Beeman was the lone winner for the Spartans She bested the 59 competitor field in the women's 100m dash in 12:07. She also claimed the championship from among 66 competitors in the women's 200m dash after winning in :24.08. The Spartans combined to collect seven runner-up placings and three third place finishes.

Olivia Costley - 400m - 2nd in :58.47/31 competitors

Kelsey Betthauser - discus - 3rd place 42.81m/140'-5" (61 competitors)
Rebecca Burmahl - hammer - 3rd place 50.61m/166'-0" (65 competitors)

Isaiah Ellis - 200m dash - 3rd in :22.10/58 competitors
Colfay Pointer - 400m - 2nd in :49.15/41 competitors
Maurice Cushion-Lewis - long jump - 3rd 7.02m/23'-.5" (42 competitors)
Blaze Murfin - shot put - 2nd 17.47m/57'-3.75" (49 competitors)
Blaze Murfin - hammer - 2nd 56.94m/186'-10" (56 competitors)
4x100m relay - 2nd in :42.04/10 teams (Maurice Cushion-Lewis, Jeremiah Steed, Isaiah Ellis, Dylan Kutsch)
The Spartans are preparing to host the University of Dubuque Good Friday Open on April 19 beginning at 11 a.m. on the Douglas J. Miller Track. Field events begin at 11:00 a.m. with running events beginning at 1:00 p.m. Teams expected to compete include: Beloit College, University of Dubuque, Edgewood College, Hawkeye Community College, Knox College, Mount Mercy University, and Rockford University.
