DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s soccer team pushed their winning streak to four on Sunday afternoon after taking down UW-Stevens Point 2-1.
Dubuque, Univ. of 2, UW-Stevens Point 1
How It Happened
-UW-Stevens Pointers put pressure on the Spartans early with their attack and grabbed the lead in the 14th minute after a Pointer shot hit the post but bounced right back out to another Pointer who was able to finish.
-The Spartans started to get their attack going and forced a corner kick in the 30th minute, where the Spartans have been solid at all year. Lauren Cangelosi lofted a perfect ball into the box and found the head of McKenna Young for the equalizer.
-The Pointers outshot the Spartans in the first half 10-5 but UD goalie kept the Spartans in it with four saves in the half.
-In the 77th minute, Lexus Rose got out on a fast break after a long ball and took advantage of the break to score her fourth goal of the season and put the Spartans ahead at 2-1.
-The Spartan defense stepped up as it has time and time again. After Rose’s goal, the Spartans did not allow a shot for the remainder of the game.
