Softball Lose to #11-ranked Kohawks

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team faced top-ranked Coe College on Tuesday and would the doubleheader to the #11-ranked Kohawks 3-8 in game one and 0-12 in five innings in game two.
In the opening game, UD scored three runs off seven hits, but had three errors which allowed four unearned runs. The Spartans left eight runners on base. Courtney Markin and Kayleigh Leddy both finished with two hits. Leddy, Nikki Blum, and Brandy Heraty all collected one RBI in the loss.
Mackenzie Kyle took the loss after tossing five innings and walking six of 31 batters faced. Taylor Blair threw one complete inning and struck out one and allowed one hit.
In game two, the Kohawks bats were hot early and they jumped out to a 11-0 lead after three innings. UD scored no runs off just two hits, a double to Leddy and a single to Allard. Coe scored 12 runs off 12 hits and struck out five Spartans.
Losing pitcher was Blair who allowed eight earned runs off eight hits in two innings. Makayla Witt came in for relief and tossed two innings and allowed three earned runs off four hits.
UD will host the Simpson College Storm on Saturday, April 22 on Senior Day.
