DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball didn't let the cold weather cool them down on Wednesday night in Stoltz Sports Center en route to a 78-64 victory over the Coe College Kohawks. The hot shooting Spartans sank nearly 60% of their attempts from the field in the second half and finished the night sinking 30-55 shots (54.5%).

UD 's largest lead of the night was by 26 points at 11:47, as the host Spartans led for 32:03 of the fourty minutes. Both teams worked the ball inside and both finished with 30 points in the paint. UD held a slim advantage in points off turnovers 14-10. The duo of Jake Weber and Jamaree Atwater would finish the evening with 14 and 12 rebounds respectively to help UD out rebound the Kohawks 36-28. Weber made 11-16 shot attempts to lead all scorers with 24 points for his sixth consecutive double-double for the Spartans. Atwater trailed narrowly behind with 19 points. Kyle Bauer added 11 points in his third start of the season. Thirteen Spartans saw action in the Iowa Conference victory with 11 of them scoring.

“Our guys executed really well tonight on both ends and Weber and Atwater played great on the boards," added coach Robbie Sieverding. Weber is playing at a high level and has really improved from last season.  We also handled the press well and took care of the basketball throughout the game. We have several days to get ready for a good Wartburg team who is playing very well. They have a nice team and can score with a variety of players."

UD will not find it any easier in their next contest on Saturday, the Spartans will face the Wartburg College Knights in Waverly. The Knights (10-3 overall, 2-2 in IIAC) are receiving votes in the Top-25 and lost to Loras (8-4 overall, 1-2 in IIAC) by a 84-75 mark on Wednesday.
