DUBUQUE, Iowa- The University of Dubuque Women’s Basketball Team dropped a conference match to Simpson College on Wednesday night, 48-58.
The Spartans (6-9, 2-4 IIAC) could not quite find their rhythm on offense tonight as they shot 17-57 (29.8%) from the field and only 6-24 in the second half. Emily Brinker led UD in both rebounds and points, as she collected a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Morgan Boer was the only other Spartan to reach double figures in the scoring column with 10 points. Out of the 48 points for UD, 18 of those came from Kia Dwight, Cece Pope and Rylee Andresen, all of whom came off of the bench tonight.
UD’s defense kept them in the game, as they held the Storm to 16-49 (32.7%) shooting and only 31.8% from behind the arc. The Spartans were able to force Simpson into 26 turnovers, however UD only was able to come up with 11 points off of those turnovers. UD came up with nine steals on the night, Allie Biermeier and Morgan Boer both collected three, while Abbey Meyer had two to lead the way and Madison Boer had one. To go along with her double-double, Emily Brinker was also a force on defence as she blocked four shots.
