Writer Tim Bascom is author of Running to the Fire (University of Iowa Press, April, 2015), about his experience as the son of missionaries stationed in Ethiopia during a Marxist Revolution. His earlier work includes the memoir Chameleon Days: An American Boyhood in Ethiopia (Houghton Mifflin, 2006), a collection of essays The Comfort Trap (Intervarsity Press, 1993), and a novel, Squatters’ Rites (Cellar Book Shop, 1991). Bascom's writing has won editor’s prizes at The Missouri Review and Florida Review, and has been selected for Best American Travel Writing and Best Creative Nonfiction.
