Transfer students, having already attended another college, understand what university life is like. With that in mind, Transfer Student Orientation is designed to help you successfully continue your college journey here through specific training and support to prepare you for your studies and success at the University of Dubuque.

Welcome to UD!

This is an exciting time as you continue your college experience here at UD, and we hope New Student Orientation will help you feel at home on our campus. For all transfer and non-traditional students, New Student Orientation will take place Monday, August 21, Tuesday, August 22, OR Wednesday, August 23. For your convenience, you may opt into the day that works best with your schedule. Please note if you are registered for World View Seminar I, WVS 101, you will need to attend the full first-year New Student Orientation program.

All transfer and non-traditional students should plan to check-in at Steffens Hall in the Charles and Ramona Myers Center (near the Admission Office) to pick up your Orientation packet, which includes your schedule for the day and some great UD giveaways. Check-in will be open from 8:00–9:00 a.m. each day. Required programming will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There are many other activities that are not required, but we encourage you to attend all that you can in the evenings leading up to the first day of classes. We have plenty of fun and exciting activities planned that you will not want to miss!

If you are living on campus, you may make arrangements to move in anytime between Sunday, August 20 and Wednesday, August 23. To make arrangements, please contact the Office of Residence Life by calling 563.589.3163 or email at ResidenceLife@dbq.edu.

New students will have the chance to meet the faculty, and in some cases, see the facilities of their field of study throughout New Student Orientation. Each academic department has crafted a unique experience just for you. Your specific major’s meeting is listed on your personal schedule, but if you’ve changed your major or are curious about other opportunities, all of the sessions are listed below.
