Short Term Study Abroad Opportunities

Short term study abroad programs offer a variety of international study, travel, and service opportunities. UD offers short term study programs every semester, including, J-term and summer semesters.

The course number "368" denotes a travel course (Example: ART 368).  Many 368 courses are cross-listed and will fulfill the WVS Three Core Requirement. For most of these courses, the travel portion will be during the fall or spring breaks. Recent "368" courses have offered academic credit in art, business, education, environmental science, literature, music, philosophy, sociology, and wellness. Students have traveled to Austria, Belgium, Botswana, the Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey.

J-term courses are offered for a three-week period every January and always include domestic and international travel courses. Since the first J-term in 2011, students have traveled to study in Belize, the Bahamas, Britain, China, France, Sri Lanka, and Spain.

Short-term study abroad courses with a longer travel component (up to four weeks) are offered during the summer semester. Recent courses have included field studies in Paraguay, digital photography in Ireland, and environmental studies and service in Sweden.

Short-term study opportunities change every semester. To participate in short-term study you must register for the course(s) during Fall, Spring, J-term, or Summer registration.

Students also have the opportunity to enter the Study Abroad Photo Contest when they return from studying abroad, where they can share their favorite study abroad moments and photos with the UD community!
